Hello,

Just replaced my valve cover gasket on my 01 Sportage (2 Door / 5 Speed / 183K miles). I also replaced the plugs while I had everything out and made sure it was properly gapped. So I put everything back as it should.

Now I have a new problem. More annoying than anything as it still drives fine (250-300 miles a week).

When I'm rolling into a stop and it's on neutral, the RPMs goes up around 1500-1700 range. But, as soon as the car stops completely the RPMs goes down to normal around 900-1000.

Any ideas??? Any info would be much appreciated.

Check for a vacuum leak all hoses and fittings. Illegal air into the system will cause high idle. 800/850 is normal. Also check throttle cable for correct free play and movement.
I'm having a White Castle moment.

I found 2 cracked vacuum lines. I went ahead and replaced both. Looks like the RPMs are now under control. It still in the 1k range. I'll try cleaning the IAC next time.
