FYI, many of us use the "Carlinkit 3.0" device which plugs in and gives you wireless carplay. Not perfect, perhaps, but much more convenient way to use carplay with a wireless charger, etc.

My Carlinkit just died after only a few months of working. The red light never changes to green and of course no connection. Going to have to see how good their warranty is.

I just picked up the 3.0 based on your link, thx... Every time I went to Amazon before, they were the inflated price. I also looked at the 4.0, on sale when I checked an a little while ago. The 3.0 has much better ratings over a more vast audience, but I might try both and return which one I don't like. Returns at Amazon are now valid till January 31st 2023

You could use a wireless carplay adapter with a short cable, 6-10" cable and then just put your phone in the console, the adapter can get mounted close to the USB port with Velcro or other means. I just bought this on Amazon and it arrived a half hour ago so I haven't tried it yet. But if you need to charge your phone then you will need a different spot to charge it. I have a wireless charging pad in mine, so I am mounting this close to the USB port and will lay my phone on the charge pad when I get in the car. But never need to connect the phone to a lightning cable.
