This only works if you use a key in the ignition to start your Kia (Not a keyless FOB where you use a pushbutton start and the Fob has to be inside the car). Asked dealer for spare key for my wallet and they told me it would be about $70 each. I went online and looked up "2016 Kia Forte5 blank key code" which was KK8-P. I looked up this code and found many places that sell the blanks. Ordered 5 blanks for $1.19 each and had them sent to me. Took blanks to my local hardware store (they have a key cutting machine) and had them cut the keys for me. They all worked great and even start the car should you lose you regular FOB set. I keep one in my wallet for backup. When you take them to the hardware store for cutting make sure you tell them to use setting "C" on their cutting machine. This is the setting that holds the key properly in the machine while being cut. My total cost for these 5 blank key cut to fit my auto was around $15.00. It would have been $350 at the dealership. HOPE THIS IS HELPFUL TO SOMEONE ELSE, IT SURE WAS TO ME!!

Keys and fobs are killer profit makers for dealers. Fortunately, most locksmiths can deal with most of the issues a lot cheaper.

The real pain is on luxury used cars, they rarely come with two fobs. Unscrupulous folks sell the extra one on ebay.

I remember having to get a dealer provided and programmed fob for a 2006 Acura RL. Took four trips back to the dealer to get programming that would stick. A $600 experience. Quite a complex programming procedure as well.

if you have an immobilizer in your vehicle a standard key will only unlock the door, it will not start the vehicle.

All Canadian vehicles since 2008 have had this feature standard.

Company name is CLK Supplies. Search on Google, slect key blanks, select Hyundai/Kia,

Type in year, make, and model into search bar at top of screen. Should bring up the key blank code of that vehicle
