Unhappy K2900 120000km service

hi all, just been on the phone to Cricks Highway Kia at Springwood as i am due for my next service. i have been told it will cost around 1300 for this service as it is major and i will need the timing belt done... i dont have 130 cents so im bit spewing as im worried this stuff needs to be done but no way i can/will afford that.. ive seen a timing belt kit for $300, no idea what would cost to do it/get a machinice to do it. also what else is involved in this service? if just the norm i can do all that myself and just worry about the belt..
any advice cheers!

also whats the go- just had the truck 5 years, my aircon wont work, heater wont work, door handle snapped, fuse cover snapped off, rear view mirror fell off, passeneger seatbelt wont clip up.. are these things just meant to fail after 5 years...??

Unless you are handy with tools you should get the belt replacement performed by a professional. There are several YouTube videos on how to perform a removal replacement process. (Example http://youtu.be/LM8j-uHsNhY). Depending on the vehicle, the water pump may be inspected and its gasket replaced at the same time. Mistakes can cause extensive damage.

At your mileage, the timing belt and water pump, should not be ignored, if TB breaks, you will need major engine work..
