First Kia....First Van

Hi Everyone,

I reluctantly gave in to my wife's demands for more space and traded in my 2018 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab for a KIA Sedona because the Toy just was not practical for a family of 5.

We looked at SUV's. I really wanted a Telluride, however, due to the Telluride's popularity, dealers are unjustly inflating prices by $10,000-15,000! It's impossible to find a Telluride at the advertised introductory price point of $30,000. One salesman told me they had overpriced a base model to $45,000 and it sold the same day... He also went on to say they have an unofficial non-negotiation policy on the Telluride...We went to another KIA dealer. God I hate car salesmen...

I swore I would never be a Mini-Van-Dad...Wrong! I test drove a 2018 Certified Pre-Owned Sedona and was really impressed. Since it was used with 12,000 miles, it had already taken the depreciation hit, and I walked away with the dealer cutting me a check for my Toyota!

I have been driving the Sedona for a month, and I have to say, it may not be an overpriced SUV, but I have money in the bank, tonnes of space, great handling/acceleration, all leather interior, heated seats and a happy wife.

I get complements and questions from strangers all the time ....Plus, the new Sedona just looks better and badder than any of the other Vans out there...to me Looks like a modern version of the A-Team van

Glad you like the Sedona. Yes, mini-vans are a well-kept secret. Good deals to be had since they are not what's "trending". Tons of room and close to 30 MPG on the highway.

Our first minivan was a used '95 Lumina APV we bought in 2003 when we returned from Germany. Only had 50K miles on it. Paid $5,000. Died at 155K.

Next one was a 2005 Chevy Venture LS, bought as a GM Certified in 2008 with 40K miles for $6,000 (I was the webmaster at the car dealer and grabbed it before it even hit the lot). Sold it in 2013 because the rust was starting to peek through the rocker panels. Had about 110K miles.

I would like to have one now, but the house we retired to has a small garage and it would not fit. Dang.

Enjoy your Sedona.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your Sedona purchase and the Telluride is nice but to pay way over MSRP is insane but in a few months they will deal.

Enjoy it. I had no issues driving my wife's Sedonas. Very comfortable for road trips and fits everything inside. The kids enjoyed having control over heat and AC in the second row. Sometimes in the summer they would put the heat on back there and point the vent toward the front. Took me a while to figure out why my neck was super hot.
