  1. Kia Rio RPM running too high!

    2G (2006 - 2011) Rio & Rio5
I was racing up and down the freeway at 65-70 and the car was winding out at 3500-4000 RPMS. The car was responsive, just thought the RPMS were high --- as if you have to slam it into 6th gear. cobra259, I am glad you told me that is the because of the weight of the car, tire size, gear...

Hi Cobra259, I owned a 1998 Honda Civic 4 cylinder 1.6L manual 5 speed and it was 2500 RPM at 60mph and that is why I was concerned.
  3. Kia Rio RPM running too high!

Guys, I have a 2011 Kia Rio. If I go 60mph on the freeway the RPM is 3000. Which is kind of high. It's a manual transmission and 5th gear is the highest gear. It seems like it need to be shifted into 6th gear -- but there is no 6th gear. I rarely drive the car faster than 60mph because I dont...

I need to change the spark plugs in my 2011 Kia Rio. Which brand do I get? AC Delco? Bosch? Autozone has decent prices on spark plugs? Walmart? OReilly? Any thoughts on decent spark plugs?

Well fellas I did it. I completed the brake and rotor job. Thanks for the feedback and knowledge. The tools from HB were heaven sent. I learned very quickly that one must have the right tool for the right job. You have to be in good shape for this kind of work. I was breathing hard, lower back...
  7. changing rotors and brake pads annoyances

Yea I looked at those swivel sockets and they might be a good addition to my toolbox with the impact gun. I bought a breaker bar at HB. This tool alone is worth its weight in gold(less muscle/more physics) Best investment. I am buying a new set of wrenches next week. I finally got a 20% off...

Yes, your information was very helpful. I spent an hour in HB today looking at the sockets and wrenches. I looked at the deep well sockets and impact wrench you mentioned, however, they are too big to reach the back bolts. I am definitely getting the deep well sockets and impact wrench on other...

Thanks for the information Dave. I will check out Harbor Freight to finish the job. The link you gave me for a "13 pc socket set" is 12 point set. My bolts are rusted on. I will check to see if they have that same 13 pc set in a 6 point. Awesome information!

I know metric socket and wrenches do the most stripping of nuts/bolts. I am using SAE(inches) tools. But how I am supposed to know if SAE or Metric bolts are on the car?

lHi fellas, This is a three part question. 1.) I replaced rotors and brakes. Problem is I did a crappy job. I did everything right except that I kept stripping or rounding off the bolts taking them off and putting them back on. I have researched in vain on how to prevent stripping of bolt...
  12. Replacing brakes and rotor

    2G (2006 - 2011) Rio & Rio5
Hi fellas, This is a two part question. 1.) I replaced passenger side of rotors and brakes. Problem I keep stripping bolt heads. I have researched in vain on how to prevent stripping of bolt heads. What causes it? How to prevent it? I have cheap Stanley tools. 12 point. and cheap 6 point...
  13. Timg Belt change - Epic Fail.

    2G (2006 - 2011) Rio & Rio5
Yes. For $200 its better to let someone else do it with the right tools and environment. If I had a garage and power tools it would much easier. I could take my time and have privacy.
  14. Timg Belt change - Epic Fail.

    2G (2006 - 2011) Rio & Rio5
I attempted my first timing belt change to save money. I bought my Gates Timing belt at RockAuto.com last week and was ready to tackle the job myself on my 2011 Kia Rio today. I bought a set of Harbor Freight Tools (130 piece) and studied youtube videos for a month. At 11am I jacked up car...
  15. Easy to change timing belt in Kia?

    General KIA Non-Model Specific Discussion
This is my first time in changing a timing belt on a car. Are 2011 Kia Rios easy timing belts to change? I don't want to pay $300 to have someone do it when I can save some coin and do it myself. I am on a tight budget. Thanks.
