Question What safety tech does Telluride have and will have?

U.S. regulators designate six levels of driving automation, from none (0) to full (5). AEB, automatic emergency braking, and related Level 1 technology such as lane-departure warning, blind-spot detection and reverse automatic braking—collectively known as ADAS, or advanced driver assistance systems—are just the beginning.

Cars are also beginning to incorporate technology developed for fully self-driving cars, such as ultra-detailed, centimeter-accurate maps of much of the U.S. highway system. Cars navigate on through these maps and the real world using a combination of GPS and other location technologies. Some of these systems, known as Level 2, are actually able to drive for a human on highways. These systems can drive for you but they require you to pay attention to the road and keep your hands on the wheel. (Sometimes they even use cameras to check on you.) They’re a kind of enhanced cruise control that can steer to keep the car in the lane and maintain a safe following distance from the car ahead.

The above info is from the WSJ 6/18/2020. I viewed the Kia site on the Telluride and not a lot is there on what driver assist tech the new model has. Kia should better describe what it now has and what the company is working on in this area. Toyota and Subaru are pushing this, so should Kia.

It took me two seconds to find this. I am not sure why you would expect the Telluride promotional site to tell you all about technology it DOESN’T have.

SooooDave, the present Kia Telluride site under safety only shows the usual airbags, ABS, seatbelt anchors for kid seats and something called vehicle stability. A picture on the main page implies lane deviation warning but had no text. Where is any description on 360 view camera, front/rear sensors on getting too close to objects, auto braking if approaching a car ahead and smart cruise control that slows if you get close to the car ahead???? If it does not have these features, I won't buy one;

Yes, the Kia site doesn’t seem to cover this for some reason.

Try the reviews, like this:

Telluride Safety Features

This Kia comes with a lot of standard safety features, including a rearview camera, rear parking sensors, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, a blind spot collision avoidance system, forward collision warning, brake assist, pedestrian detection, rear cross traffic alert, a driver attention monitor, adaptive cruise control, and safe exit assist, which warns you if it's not safe to open your doors because of approaching cars or bikes.

Automatic high beams, rain-sensing windshield wipers, a surround-view parking camera, highway driving assist, and blind spot monitoring are available.

My car (SX Trim level) has the HDA (Highway Drivind Assist) very nice feature, just logged 16 hours in two days of highway driving. Pretty much the car has the smart cruise system (auto slows car to keep pace with the car in front of you if they are going slower), seems to fully brake the car even with rapid drops in speed to a stop, and will somewhat steer itself.
If you let go of the steering wheel it will steer around some slow curves and down straight always. It will flag you a reminder after a while to hold the steering wheel.
I think it also has an auto front collision avoidance (self braking), auto on/off high beams, blind spot, front/rear parking sensors and around view monitor...it also has a screen that shows a video in between the speedometer and tachometer from the side view mirror camera when you turn the turn signal on.
