Issues in Canada

Looks like Stinger was not prepared for release in Canada. Here are the issues I've encountered so far:

1) Dealership had no clue that the tires on the vehicle I was buying we summer tires, even though I mentioned it several times. It took a couple of slides on the slushy road we had last week to convince sales rep otherwise.
They had no plan for getting me winter tires. I had to look for suitable replacements myself.

2) Dealership did not have rubber mats. They told me it would take almost 2 months for them to be delivered. I had to buy generic cut-to-size Weathertech mats myself.

3) By far the biggest issue is with the car itself: It does NOT have a wiper defroster, which is available for other Kia vehicles. The front defroster only handles the visible area of the windshield, but the wiper bay and blades themselves remain completely frozen. See photo:

Yikes..

I spy what looks like an extension cord - does it have a block heater?

I'm sure living up there you are aware of those covers they make that keep snow and ice off the windshield, attach to the mirrors. Don't need it often down here, but I have been quite glad I keep one in my Sorento on those rare occasions it was needed!

@eflyguy As far as I can tell it does not have an engine block heater. Not that I ever needed one anyway. I live out by Toronto, not in Nuavut.

The covers somewhat help if the car is parked, but if you have to drive in wet snow or freezing rain (both are common here) you're still screwed. I can't believe they missed this feature in what supposed to be a premium car

maybe you might want to check out this forum for some assistance https://stingerforum.org/

I have the wiper de-icer on my Soul.

For any new model or revised model can sometimes take months before the accessories become available for it. When I bought my 2012 Soul I had to wait about 2-3 months to get the hood guard as they made a change in the hood design compared to the 2011 model so it would not fit on the revised 2012 model.

@conwelpic is the heated element on your car positioned on the wiper itself or the windshield?

it's in the glass at the bottom of the windshield (in the black section), and it is very difficult to see unless you look at a certain angle and depending on the location of the light. I had a heck of job trying to photograph it when I was asked on another forum, had to use a wax pencil on part of the glass to emphasize it, but here is what I was able to take. It works great too.

Just went to check it again. I don't see anything like that on my Stinger. I guess they really did drop the ball on that....

I forgot to mention it will operate at the same time you turn on the front windshield defroster and will automatically turn off after about 20 minutes unless you turn off the ignition.

#3 is the only issue for which KIA is culpable of anything, and it is a small one at that.

You made the decision to purchase a vehicle knowing it had high performance summer tires from the factory, and was not available with winter floor mats yet.

Kia assumed that nobody will drive a sporty RWD car in the snow. Or that they will leave such an expensive car parked on the street, to be covered by the snow plows.

For the Soul, yeah, that's plausible
