Help: Intermittent Starting in warm weather

I have a 2001 Kia Sportage EX. It starts intermittently in warm weather. I crank it 3 times no start, then 4 or 5th time it starts. When it is hot out it takes longer and has been progressively getting worse (more and more cranking). I'm waiting for the time it will not start which is about now. In winter (PA), it started without any problems. Has been like this for a year and half. I have no engine codes. I've replaced the fuel filter, spark plugs, both ignition coils and wires, fuel pressure regulator, valve cover gasket (due to leaking and fouling plugs), timing belt. I just took the fuel pump out because I thought the screen might be clogged. Screen and pump are just fine.

Without any engine codes, does anyone know what am I missing? Are there any Kia Techs out there that have seen this %$&t before?

Thanks in advance

I just had the same problem with my 2000 Sportage. Grab a can of electric contact cleaner at the auto store and check your starter. If it's dirty and it probably is, spray those contacts real good and then check to see if they are loose. Mine was coated with grease. Probably from previous oil changes since the oil filter is almost directly above it. Also my connection had wiggled a little loose so I pulled it off and sprayed that too before reconnecting it. It helps to remove the battery so you can get to it easier. So far I've had no problems with it starting now after five days.
Previously it fired up fine on the first cold start and all winter long but once it ran and warmed up it had trouble. It gets up to 100 her in Salt Lake in the summer. I'm guessing maybe some of that crud heated up and goofed up the contact on mine.
Let us know if that helps.

Forgot to ask? Can you hear the starter clicking when you are turning the key? Are your dash lights going dim or fine? I've heard a weak battery can not be enough juice to crank the starter.
