Where to get 2001 sportage transmission parts?

My sister has a 2001 kia sportage 4x4/ manual transmission and 103k on it.

At 59k the transmission started leaking so kia replaced the transmission. Now that it has 103k on it, the shifting fork broke. I dont see anything else wrong inside the transmission. I have been looking all over the internet trying to find parts for this trans but havent been able to as of yet.

I can buy this part through a local trans shop, but i want to save $ by buying this part online. Does anyone know of a site that would sell these internal , manual trans parts?

Salvage yard might be your best bet. Even money says that's where your transmission shop gets theirs. You might also like to know that the AL Sportages share many mechanical components such as steering, axles, hubs, brakes, transfer case, transmissions with the 1996-98 Suzuki Sidekick/Geo Tracker.

Thanks for the info and quick responce. It is nice to know that parts from other vehicles may fit this one.

I am in a small town. The local salvage shops dont have any, but can order a used complete transmission for $650 usd, spalding wrecking yard in spokane washington wil sell one for $60 also, but it is 400 miles away. I can purchase a rebuilt tranny for $900 and buy a new tranny for $1600.

I also looked on ebay. They have about the same prices. But considering that all i need is a shifting fork, its not worth buying a complete tranny.

I was thinking you might find one of the other vehicles in a P'n'P and get the fork from there. The more makes and models a part is found in, the likelier it is you'll find it in a given area. Try searching for one out of the other vehicles I mentioned.

Also, given the nature of what you're trying to do, it might just be quicker and easier to swap in a functional transmission and repair the old one.
