High RPMs after long drive

My 2011 Soul is great, but after a long drive of more than an hour of highway speeds, when I go back to city driving, it idles high and pulls a lot. I throw it into neutral and it will shoot to well over 2000 RPM. If I rev the engine, it will idle down, but as soon as I start driving again, itís back up.
Suggestions as to what this could be?

Acceleration cable gets stuck? If rusted, needs some WD40 and grease?

So it goes...

Not sure if your model has an IAC/ISC , but it could be sticking and need a clean with carb cleaner, or replacement.

Quality and not quantity counts.

Cable looks fine, but I’ll grease it anyway. I think it does have an IAC. I was thinking that or the throttle position sensor. Don’t know what else it could be.
