Kia Soul water in spare tire well

Just picked up a 2012 Kia Soul 2012 three days ago. Car sat in the rain on the lot weeks prior. Yesterday I opened the back to access the spare tire area it was full of water. The water looked clear, no previous evidence of rust anywhere as if it was an ongoing problem but water should not be in there. We took out the rear driver side lighting assembly (as suggested here by someone), saw some sort of vent below with something fitted into it that looks open (also learned it was there by a poster here) but it’s impossible to get full access to it without taking more parts off the car I know nothing about. After seeing someone with a 2011 Soul post about this we are hoping that’s how the water is getting in but cannot work out how to access it. We can see half of it looking down into the body-bumper area, stick a hand into the vent and feel it’s open but that’s it. The place we got our Soul was not happy we called them just days in nor are they helpful. Not sure how to proceed. We checked the passenger side removing that assembly there’s no vent in the body there just driver side. Any and all input welcome.

Garage

I used to own a 2012 (there is a grommet below the spare to drain any water), but if I had that problem I would get out the garden hose and concentrate it on various areas in the general area to find out where the water could be entering the spare well. Just a slow process of elimination.

Hi
We did just that plus ran it through the car wash, nothing. We actually discovered by driving it on the wet road it was coming in through that drain that was eroded from below, odd because you push down on it and the water won’t drain back out. We dried it out and my spouse sealed it shut, since then no leaks.
