"Popping" Sounding from Engine...

I have had my Borrego for about 3 months, and this sound has become irratating. There is a "popping" sound coming from the right (passenger) side of the engine compartment. Almost sounds like someone hitting a galvanized trash can. It just comes and goes... but, its really noticeable to anyone sitting in the front passenger seat. Very intermittent, but noticeable when sitting at a light or parked.

I thought it might be the Thermostat Housing issue (TSB ENG 052)... but, I really don't have a "booming" type sound.

I had the same problem when i bought my Borrego used a couple of months ago. I took it to the dealer and they said it was the exhaust shield expanding and thumping the bottom of the car. They shaved it down a little and added in some spacers. Haven't had the popping since!
