Anybody towing?

Just curious if anyone else is towing with their Borrego and what the impressions are thus far. I have a V6 so towing is limited to 5000lbs, but I think I'm going to stick with a 4000lb GVWR trailer to be on the safe side. The 5000lb trailers are all around 12-1300lbs anyway, as opposed to the 4000lb trailers which are about about 950-1000. I got a good recommendation on a brake controller and weight distributing hitch on another forum (thank goodness the Borrego is pre-wired) so I think I should be set once I find the right trailer.

I pull a travel trailer that is close to 5000lbs when loaded. My Borrego V6 EX 4 wheel drive pulls it alright but I travel at 90km (~55miles) an hour. I tried pulling it faster but the Borrego seemed to be working very hard. My Borrego was purchased new and there was a wiring adapter in the glove box that snaps into the existing wiring harness then the trailer dealership wired in the brake control and supplied the stabilizing hitch when I purchased the trailer. I started another thread on here about the mileage etc. search and you should be able to find it. Blake

I wouldn't think of going faster with that kind of a load-55MPH should be the maximum. How do you find it on steep (6-8%) grades? I won't really be doing a lot of highway towing so I'm not concerned about cruising speed-my main concern is grades. I will be pulling loads of firewood up (and down) 6-8% grades on roads that vary in speed limit between 45 and 50 MPH.

Don't have a lot of steep grades here, but the valleys I 've gone through have not been a problem......45 or 50 can't see it being a problem?

Have towed a high wall pop up - 3000 lbs with 450 lb tongue weight, RWD V6 Borregoa pulls it just fine, the brake controller was easy to install with the plug that was with the car. Also tow this with a FWD 2011 Explorer, the Borrego is the better vehicle in terms of feel and capability towing

We Tow a (about) 2700 lbs pop-up. Of course the V6 Borrego doesn't even know it's back there. Still would like to get a TT for it, and us.

I tow a double covered snowmobile trailer, and that thing actually gives the borrego a fairly good workout. The trailer is 8 feet 6 inches wide, so its substantially wider than the vehicle. Its the wind resistance, not the weight (1500# or so), that makes me average about 12 mpg on flat ground while towing that.

I have the EX V8 and have towed my Stock Car with a tandem axle trailer, a 22 foot camper and another utility trailer. I have been close to the 7,000 lb limit and one trip was over 900km long. It's been off-road into the woods and hauled a vehicle full of people with a trailer. It pulls right through.
Too bad Kia stopped making it, they had a pretty good truck for their first big one. Had they have been able to put more time into it, it would have dominated the market in that area. I have yet to find a comparable vehicle.

I have to agree 100%. I"ll keep my Borrego Lmt until someone comes out with something better. Yes, there are other vehicles that have certain features that are better than my Borrego, but, they ALL fall short on the overall package compared to my 3 year old Borrego.
