Oil Filters for the 3.8 v6

Hey Guys one more question on oil changes. This will be my first oil change on the KIA. I went over to O'reillys auto parts store to pick up a filter. They have two filters listed for WIX. They have WIX 57250 which is raised. And they have WIX 57029 Which is flat. Which filter do I need? Where is the drain plug located? Towards the front or rear of engine?

Thanks again

I need your prduction date to look up a kia filter for you, then, you can use that part to cross at the parts store, or just use the Kia oil filter. You could give me the last 8 of your vin#, that will work also. You could also buy both at the parts store, and return the one that is wrong. Find your oil pan then you will see the drain plug. Make sure you change the drain plug gasket. And also change the o/rings for the filter.

The build date is 10/08
Im thinking it must be the long filter which is raised.

Thanks

It would be safer to buy both, match the correct one during the oil change, and then return the wrong one. Even using the vin with the Kia parts catalog, sometimes it shows the incorrect filter. If I'm doing an oil change, I remove the filter before I even go to parts to make sure I get the correct one.

I changed the Oil last weekend I had the WIX 57250 with the raised ends. This is the less expensive filter which is a positive. Went well with no problems. Owe, well one problem. The filter that they sold me had just the washer in it with no seals. I used the parts from the other filter I bought since I didn't know which one I had. Took the other filter back and told them about the missing parts.
Thanks for the help Steve69

Sorry I didn't get back to you Steve. The OEM Kia filter # is 26320-3C100, if you wanted to buy a Kia filter next time. It will have the o/rings and drain plug gasket in the box. List price in the USA is $10.00.

Check that again. The Kia filter that matches the Wix 57250 will have a part# that ends in 250 as well. It looks like the 3C100, but smaller. The 3C100 wasn't used in the Borrego.
