2009 ex v8 new member here

Hi:

Stumbled across this site thought I would join and not just lurk.

Have a 2009 EX V8 had it for about 47,000 miles like it a lot except for the following short list.

1) Premature brake rotor warpage front only,, approx every 10,000 miles or so (three times) on a set of new rotors now seems better with new set

2) Ride softness very harsh,, good for handling (this thing does handle well) but too hard so anyone have any solutions for this one?

3) Transmission down shifts a bit jerky when coming back into 1st like when coming up to a stop light, if I manually shift it back to 1st less jerky

Like I said a pretty short list and my wife likes this thing a lot. I think it is a good buy and I love the performance of this beast,,, a few people have been surprised when they get blown away by a KIA.

Anyways hello and thanks to every started this site as I am sure it will be a good source of info.

Borrego V8

Welcome to a pretty exclusive club, (especially since they are no longer sold in the US). As to your concerns. I also have a Borrego V8 (limited).
(1) I have not had any brake/rotor problems with mine although several members here have reported the same issue as you.
(2) Ride quality: You might try a different tire when/if your Hankooks wear out, however, considering that the Borrego V8 has a 7500# towing capacity, it will never be as soft as less capable vehicles. I personally don't mind giving up a little comfort for the better handling and towing capacity of my Borrego. You simply cannot have both in a vehicle this size.
(3) I have not experienced any harsh downshifts with my Borrego. I would take it in and see what the dealer says. I do know that there is a TSB on these (Sachs ZF-6) transmissions. It seems that these transmissions are subject to stray electrostatic charges that will cause them to shift erraticlly if the wiring harness is not properly shielded. Again, I have not experienced this.

Hi FamilyHotRod!

I find the ride somewhat harsh. Obviously the truck based platform, towing and 18" wheels make us feel the bumps. I think that the ride height and wheel base contributes to the problem.
When I bought my winter tires this year, I insisted on 17" steel winter rims (same ones at the Chevy Uplander) so I could get a higher side wall on the tires. I can't even be sure that this helped very much. One thing is for sure, the handling is solid. I drove up to 80kph (50Mph) on nasty gravel logging roads, and it was a smoother ride than when I went slow.

Welcome!! I too had the same rotor problem. Got it fixed at the dealer. Although now I am dealing with a brake pad problem
