thinking of getting a borrego...

i have been a ford explorer owner since ive had a licence...i know alot of people look at me like im nuts but to be honest, never had any crazy problems and never left me stranded...well its time to get another vehicle and im kinda bored with the ex. thinking of the borrego because its very simular in many ways(that i like) but different enough to be fresh. i have a couple of concerns...first and foremost... i do off road!!! nothing to crazy but enough were a good locker or traction control is needed. i keep reading how the traction control is absolutely terrible, like its absent from the truck or something...can anyone here confirm, if you lift a tire or two are you stuck and done for?

other ones are just stuff i guess ill find out on my own like the stock tires ive herd are terrible and what not. just any advice would be helpful.

thanks

The LX model with the non-auto 4WD is what you would want. I have to say, not being able to keep the truck in full 4x4 mode in the EX model is kind of silly. Although, the LX with a V8 is really hard to find used - but the LX with a V8 was only available with 4x4, so you won't have to try to differentiate. I would personally recommend the V8. I don't know how the V6 is on gas, but the V8 uses less gas than the same V6 in my Sedona. I can't say enough good things about the Borrego V8 that my aunt owns....but it is a 4x2 EX model.

I've only had my Borrego a few months. I have a LX 4x4 V6. I have to say the V6 has some power and is fast. I catch myself speeding all the time. The V8 must be a rocket. We average around 20mpg mixed HWY and CITY driving. I haven't had it off road so I cant verify how it is. Seems to be good in the snow so far.

The V8 is a rocket I catch myself doing 60 a lot while in a 45 zone hardly need to touch the gas peddle.
