Smile New to the forum. Want to post about our Borrego.

Hello! I just wanted to take this chance to introduce myself and talk a little bit about our Borrego.
My name is Tyler I'm from Pennsylvania I am 17 and drive what used to be my parents 1999 GMC Jimmy SLT, now they own a 2009 Kia Borrego EX-V8. They bought it in November of 2010 BRAND NEW w/ like 30 some miles on it.
At a dealership called Jim Shorkey Kia.
We had one issue the day we bought it it had two wires mixed up causing the check engine light to come on. They fixed it no problem under warranty.
It now has a little over 7000 miles on it. And it averages 16.7 MPG BTW :P
My dad and his friend took it to detroit to pick up a 57' Chevy Truck he said it towed awesome like there was nothing even back there.

I've driven it myself quite a few times.
At first the ride seemed pretty rough when it hit bumps in the road and what not. But now that it has been "broken in" it has seemed to have softened up a bit.
It has nice power shifts very smoothly and I was able to find a comfortable driving position. However, the only complaint I have is about the head rests THEY ARE HUGE!!!! Kind of hard to put your head against if you know what I mean. I have ridden in the back as well its nice and comfy back there lots of leg room its nice to have the seats recline as well. Ive have also sat in the 3rd row just for the hell of it and its not too bad back there either. We keep it down most of the time because no one ever sits back there.

We got almost every option except for like 3 or 4 of them. The nav system, back up camera, RSE ( Rear Seat Entertainment ) I might be missing one or two. My parents decided they didn't need any of that stuff.

But it has a lot of stuff memory seats, heated seats, Sun roof, rear AC and Heat, power everything (obviously), mirrors tilt down while in reverse, infinity sound system which is nice because I can hook up my iPod to it. Which confused me at first because you need the special cable from Kia.
Also, this is going to be random and out of order so just bare with me here its 2 am.

Here is some random stuff I learned.
One day I went to unlock the car right. Unlocked it got distracted by something walked up to and the damn thing locked its self back up. It was one of those WTF? moments haha. I thought that was a nice feature.
Also if you stick the key in the key hole outside and turn it to the right once it locks the drivers door and then to the right again it locks all the doors.
The sunroof has a automatic close feature which I didn't know about till I read the manual.
The front wipers don't just have 4 settings. Which I thought it did for the LONGEST time. If your turn the little knob you can adjust your speed.
I like the little blinker thing it does for when you want to change lanes.

Some personal but very minor gripes about the BORREGO.

I don't like how high up the gas cap is I'm not very tall only 5'4 not sure if that has anything to do with it or not I doubt it. But I find the gas cap to be set up too high.
I don't like the fact that the rear wiper only has one mode I guess you could say. Either your are using the washer system or it goes like every 5 seconds. I wish there were more intermittent settings you could pick from.
I don't like the fact you CAN NOT open up the rear window.
I don't like the fact the front interior dome lights don't light up when the door is open from what I have read that is a option Kia WTF were you smoking when you thought of that lol.
I don't like how the high beams function. You push out for high beams? WHAT? Who does that lol. That took some getting used to.

But all in all we ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE CAR! It's a shame Kia killed it off here in the sates after one year. But from what I understand its still being made in Canada. Thats all I can think of for now.

Thanks for reading. -Tyler 

Welcome, glad you like the truck! The only thing I can tell ya, I find things backwards in the 'rego. The switches just seem to be backwards, and the temp gauge moves the wrong way. just my opinion.

however, the multiswitch for turn and high, most cars and trucks use "push for bright" now. pulling back is to flash someone, instead of locking your highbeams on and blinding them. that is actually something "normal" lol

it's a good truck, ours is almost at 35K, and we really like ours alot too

SHOW PICTURES!!!! I love our Borrergo. My mom had an 04 Exploder and she finally decided to get a new car. The "Burrito" was the first vehicle we went and saw and test drove. We walked out of the dealership with it that night. We too have a EX V8 with the same options as you. It is the copper colored one - which I love. Idk if you know this, but when/if it gets cold where you are, turn on the front window defroster and after a few minutes feel the mirrors - yes - they are heated. Great feature that I did not know about. I am in love with our Borrego. After I give it a full detail with a fresh coat of wax and tire shine, I love driving it around and showing it off. I would HIGHLY recommend tintint the front windows 20% to match the back - it looks amazing. I also took the air box off and added a Spectre air filter - it added an AMAZING tone. Check out the pictures I have posted. Welcome to the Borrego Family!

heated mirrors

The LX version does not have the heated mirror feature, which I consider essential for an SUV unless you live in the desert. That was my primary reason for going with the EX... that and the homelink/compass/dimming rearview mirror.
