MP-3 & USB Port Use

Has anyone connected their MP-3 player to the radio/nav system via the USB port? I know that the USB port works well with many Ipod models with the correct cable, but, I have no info. on MP-3s.
Thanks,
Robert V

I've saved MP3's on a stick and used them. They work fine, but Ipod music files are encrypted and won't work (you can transfer them to a stick but they won't be recognized on the kia). I saved some children's song's on a stick for easy reference if needed so I won't have to fumble around with my ipod.

Memory stick in USB... I know not to start Borrego with it in the USB, but can you turn it off? I was getting some garbage when listening in my car with the car on but engine not running... locked the screen...

I have had no problems with leaving the USB in the slot. Thus, I was suprised to see that you (and others) have had problems.

I've had no problems with keeping my USB or ipod in the slot... However, my recent issues with starting the car may be related to the power these items have drawn over the past 10 months so I stopped using them as a precaution. The Kia dealer tells me that he couldn't trace the issue but the battery, alternator and brake sensor all checked out ok. Very frustrating

You have to buy a special Kia cable to link you Ipod to the navigation systems. This cable allow you to control your Ipod from the stereo. This is one the many dealers who can provide you with such cable. Kia iPod Cable 2009+ Models

Does that USB slot work with mp3s on a USB key? Can you put the music in different folders on the usb key?

The USB stick has to be formatted in either FAT or FAT32 format. It won't read the newer NTFS format.
