The are a bit on the pricey side imo. If you do an eBay search for running boards (you won't find any for the Borrego yet)... you get a good feel of the going prices. I think the $250-350 range is where you want to be.

What makes me nervous about that is this...

"Made of heavy duty, molded plastic with reinforced metal support."

If you are going to put any weight on these (other than just aesthetics), then I would go with an all metal construction. I would definitely want to see these prior to paying that much money.

My 2 cents.

I just had a look at some factory ones on a EX and they have a plastic molded cover over metal. I'm going to wait for a local dealership to bring them in... I'm really kicking myself for being an ass and buying the cheaper model. I'm wasn't thinking at all.

catalin,

Those look pretty much like the ones that are supposed to come on the Borrego. It seems like "factory" running boards are always expensive anyways, so $449.00 ranks right up there with the others. I know these aren't really factory, but they look damn close. I remember paying at least $450.00 for factory running boards for my 2004 Honda Pilot. The Pilot running boards were also plastic covered metal, just like these. The problem I have is...do I trust the dealership and Kia when they told me I cannot install running boards on my Ebony Black Borrego???? It would stink to get them and find out the dealership was right. But, I'd love to prove them wrong!

I wouldn't believe my dealerships around here since no-one can even give me any prices or availability. The Borrego is way too new for our region.

That's what I was thinking too. By the way, I had an email conversation with a guy over at Korean Imports about their running boards. They are the "factory" boards that come on the Borrego (no wonder they looked like it). So, $450 for factory boards seems about right. He is going to check on whether they will work with my Borrego or not. So, I'll just wait and see what he finds out.

Man, I really wish KIA would release some of these products, or at least the prices and time lines on these. My dealership doesn't really seem to know much of what's going on.

It's funny...when I talk to Kia (Kia customer service reps) about accessories for the Borrego, they have a nice list of the accessories released by month (starting October or November 2008) for dealers to order. I told one of the reps that the dealerships around here (Northeast Ohio) have pretty much nothing. She was really surprised to hear that. In fact, I got a call from one of the Kia dealers near me telling me that the mud guards I was interested in were now available. I bought factory Kia mud guards (front and rear) from a dealership in Pennsylvania a month and a half ago! So, I feel your pain. Kia says the accessories are out there for the dealers, but the dealers don't know anything about it. Oh well, what can we do...it's a brand spankin' new model. Eventually, we'll be able to walk into any Kia dealership or order online, any accessory we'd like. Someday...someday.
