I have a 2009 Borrego LX, 4.6 ltr, 132K miles, has been a joy to drive and own.. This year I have noticed that in snow, my abs is SO SENSITIVE, that just touching my brake pedal the ABS comes on and the vehicle just plows straight ahead. Also have noticed that the handling which used to be pretty good with all seasons, has become terrible and unpredictable! While I haven't put on the winter treads yet, these tires only have about 25k miles on them. The vehicle indeed does seem a bit skittish even in the rain / wet roads but I don't think that changing my tires will solve all these handling issues. Can the abs or esc be adjusted? Any suggestions before heading to the dealer? Thank you

ABS systems appear simple on a white board diagram but in reality, they are very complex. Even certified auto mechanics need to take specialized ABS courses to understand and work on them. With this in mind, best to take your vehicle into a Certified Mechanic who is very comfortable with ABS systems. And yes, improperly ABS system and weak all season tires can / does create unwanted "slip / slide" traction behavior.

Lesson Learned: My previous vehicle had a weird breaking problem as well. I pulled its ABS fuse (ya - dash lights lit up) and took it for a test drive. It's brakes now stopped better with its fuse pulled. Visited my specialized shop and they found "air" with the ABS system. Full end/end flush & bleed, put fuse back in and it work great afterwards. Could be same issue with your braking system as well...
