AC Compressor Bearings

My AC Compressor bearing is whining pretty loud. I'd like to replace just the bearing as the compressor is working fine. The whining noise doesn't change regardless if the AC is on or off. So I'm assuming the compressor is fine.

I'm curious about the clutch vs the pulley speed when the AC is on. The pulley spins very quickly (at engine speed, AC on or off), and the clutch seems to run much slower and a bit sluggish when the AC is on (no motion when off).

My questions:
1) Should the compressor clutch spin at the same speed as the pulley?
2) What is the part number of the compressor pulley bearing?

Thanks in advance for your help.

If your looking for a bearing inside the compressor housing, Kia does sell anything internal for the compressor. You find this is the case for most car company's.

My compressor is noisey (whining) also. It had done this for the last 10K miles. It still cools fine and at any rpm above idle the whine goes away. You cannot hear it in the car. A replacement compressor is anywhere from $500 to $900. In my case, it is definetly the compressor, not the clutch. I will continue to drive mine.

I changed the AC clutch bearing a few weeks ago. It took me about 4 hours (I went slow, and had to make a run to the auto parts store).

The hardest part was getting the lock ring off the pulley shaft. I used a large C-clamp and some sockets to press out the old bearing and press in the new one. The AC is nice and quiet now.

I got the bearing from Amazon for $40 (search for NSK 30BD5222DUM6).
