Goodbye Borrego

Trading in the Borrego for a Santa Fe Sport AWD this evening, very low trade-in value anywhere I tried to trade it in. It was a decent vehicle, very few problems, but I never really made use of it's capabilities, plus we bought a new sienna to haul around the kids. My neighour is getting better fuel mileage from his full size/quad cab v8 4X4 F150. Tired of driving like a granny to get decent fuel mileage in the Borrego. Time to switch over to a crossover awd as I don't use it for what it was intended. Best of luck with your Borrego's folks, they seem like they were built to last, and they are great in heavy snow.

As our Borrego's age, we will all be faced with the decision as what to replace them with. Of course it all depends on our needs are and our needs change every 4/5 years. Your decision to go with the Santa Fe is (hopefully) a good one for you. Hyundai has made the Santa Fe a great mid-size crossover. I plan to keep our Borrego for at least several more years or until someone comes out with the same or better capabilities as our Borrego.
Resale value has been an issue with all early model Hyundai/Kia products because of the "less than stellar" service on the 2003-2009 models. Unfortunitely, our Borrego's are included in that group although they have been much better than the other models.
Hyundai/Kia products quality has improved over the years such that they are on par with anything else out there. As a result of that, the "price gap" and resale value between the Hyundai/Kia's and their competitors has narrowed considerably.
I will continue to wait for someone to come out with a 7/8 passenger mid-size (true) SUV that gets 22-24mpg highway mileage, capable of towing 7500#, 10 yr. powertrain warranty and with all the amenities of my current Borrego Limited, at a price that I can afford. It may be a long wait.
Just my thoughts,

My father just picked up a used borrego yesterday. EX V6 4x4 with moonroof, running boards, heated seats, infinity system, 18" wheels. A real cream puff with only 40,000 miles. There are still a few good ones out there.
