Thumbs down KIA BORREGO PARTS-very hard to come by or to order

I just bought my 2009 kia borrego last april 26, 2 weeks after i brought it back to the dealer after noticing a power steering fluid leak from the high pressure hose. WHen they look at it they say the rack also needs replacement. It's been a whole month now and the Kia dealership here in Winnipeg (birchwood kia) still hasn't receive their order of the parts.

I was quite happy with the vehicle and I am considering buying my wife a newer borrego (2011) but with this experience I don't think im considering any kia car ever again. Very very poor product support and customer care from Kia.

Have you called your dealership back and ask if they have upgraded your parts order? Ask for the parts manager. It CAN'T be on a stock order!

You should be putting more pressure on the dealer and not giving him time to forget about you. The Borrego is a great underrated vehicle with an EXCELLENT drivetrain (especially in V8 guise) and you shouldn't let some idiot dealer ruin it for you. If there are other dealers in the area consider going to them instead and explain your situation with the first dealer. Some dealers are slow and you only get things done by keeping pressure on them.

On the never getting a kia again note, I wouldn't base my opinion on all kia vehicles parts availability on the availability of parts for a vehicle that has not been sold in North America since 2011....its why I hate buying discontinued vehicles, even simple common parts can be really hard to find...in this case, shipped out from the middle east or Korea. It really shouldn't take this long, I suggest changing dealers.

Kia obviously has a parts stocking strategy that minimizes dealer inventory. I had a warranty AC issue that was diagnosed as the compressor clutch which was not in the parts room. It was shipped over night from CA to GA. When I returned and the tech installed the clutch the problem was still there. Another over night shipment from CA and the new compressor was installed.

Very inconvenient since I lived 70 miles from the dealer. A total of 280 miles and 12 hours of driving time across north Atlanta. The service manager was very apologetic and provided a courtesy car for the third trip.

I researched the discontinued vehicle issue and found that the drive train for the Borrego is used in several Kia/Hyundai vehicles which lessened the parts availability concern. I did not discover the parts stocking issue.

Even after this experience I love my V8 Borrego and would buy it again.
