I had the problems listed in the 035 TSB when my Borrego EX V8 had about 9k miles. They replaced the transmission with a new one. About a year later the same things started to happen. I didn't have the hard downshifts you are experiencing, I had the ESC-OFF warning light coming on, it would not shift beyond 3rd gear, and instead of being stuck in park, it would not go into park, only neutural, drive, and reverse, which allowed me to drive it to the dealer...not exceeding 35 mph since it would not shift beyond 3rd gear. At this time (June 2011), the TSB 035 had been issued and was done my car . I haven't had the problems since and have put another 32k miles on the car.
Thanks for the response. Today I was given the okay from the transmission peeps who I have a warranty with to schedule an appointment with a local transmission company that specializes in extreme troubleshooting of transmissions and have many multiple inspections and sensor checks and etc that they can perform to find the problem with this current transmission doing a downshift or upshift or jolt mainly around 40 mph but it has happened at higher speeds. It varies sometimes, not consistent.
I won't be able to get in to see them until week after next due to my work schedule and them loaded down with previous jobs for other peeps.
Here is an unexpected problem that I didn't think would happen. When I called the specialty transmission shop and let them know a years worth of problems because he asked, he told me that truthfully he didn't want to commit to doing the troubleshooting on my vehicle because of all of the different peeps involved in this compaign but he said that since I sounded truthful and very informative, he was willing to give it a shot.
For telling the truth, it almost backfired with this company. He also said that they have never serviced any Borrego and had to look up the stats on it to know what kind of vehicle it is. He also said that by just my feed back to him about the transmission issues makes him think that the Kia dealership will be the only ones to correct this problem.
I'm pretty much dedicated to getting this transmission issue solved so I can keep my awesome towing ability, 337 horses, 323 ft lbs, it's almost paid off!! Patience is in the vocabulary and I have some but to get the problem solved scattered over a years time and longer?? The pictures of my life are not always perfect, just like most other peoples in this world. We all have good along with bad, some better than others and some worse than others. I do have other issues that are more important to me than my vehicle and I strive everyday to wither out the bad to try and make the goodness of the situations live a little longer. I juggle life same as every one so as for my vehicle, something will get done, either with the transmission peeps, Kia peeps or warranty peeps. Being in control is the key but to know that there are failures within the system of repairs, its hard to keep the control when the main player won't commit to doing more troubleshooting instead of just changing out the transmissions.
The Kia dealer that I go to out of town to get the transmission work done on my Borrego, they are Excellent in service and I have no complaints with them. The only complaints that I have so far are with the local Kia dealer for lack of service, lies to me and to Kia Corporation for leaving the Borrego behind in the dust to slowly vanish in its own tracks due to not having the consistent repairs that are available for their existing vehicles and for lack of information to the mechanics for a more advance fix, recommendation for this problem.
As more information is put on my plate, I will let all of you know. Again, I appreciate any and all responses. I don't mean to be negative towards any of you or Kia, I'm just dealing with a problem and addressing it to all that would like to listen.
