Being a mountain bike rider, I think i should point out that you really need to know your bike before you purchase a bike rack. Especially with mountain bikes. If you are going full suspension, then likely any of the crossbar bike racks will not fit your frame. You can buy cheater bars that hook between the front handlebars and the seat, but if you have a dropper post, that cheater can (and will) damage the post. The only way to transport these sorts of bikes is supported by the wheels.
Next you have to remember that hydraulic breaks self-adjust. If you take the wheels off your bike and don't put in a plastic spacer into the breaks you can have a heck of a battle at the destination to get your wheels back on as the breaks can close too tight for the rotor to fit.
