Can the Search be made more specific?

If I do a search on "How it's made" it searches for "how" "it's" "made" and returns results for every post that ever had any of those 3 words in it.

Is there no way to search a whole phrase? I cannot find that option in advanced or regular search options.

Thanks,
Carl

Carl, use the "google search" instead "search" on forum. I do not know why it does not work as it supposed to, but it has been like that for a while.

You can break it down a little by going into the advanced search, put it your keyword/s, then pick a forum specific to model or what forum you would like to search in.

Example:
If you were looking for a shift knob, I would enter shift knob into search, then pick, interiors forum on the site, that way it would only search in that forum.

Hope this helps.

That doesn't help this specific issue... that will bring back every thread with "shift" or "knob" anywhere in the post, ever. "Knob" is somewhat specific, though. Whereas "How it's made" has lots of general words that could be in any kind of thread.
My search would return every post with ANY of those 3 words in them. I want to search "how it's made" and have it bring back posts with that exact phrase. And what if I don't know which forum it was in?
But if the Google search allows phrase searching, we're good. Thanks.

Correct. For some reason search gives results with all or any words in the post.

It DOES. I just checked it. If you want to find a phrase, How it's made for example, put it as "How it's made". If it is How it's made itself, search will return all and any word in posts.

When searched for How it's made - I got hundreds of results.
When searched for "How it's made" - I got 3 (three) threads only.

I'll look into the search settings and see what I can do

It will bring it all up in that specific forum, not the WHOLE site, if you check the box to ONLY search in that specific forum. None of the others.

Its like this on all forums, just use the advanced features and break it down some. Dont seach the whole site for a specific term, that will bring up tons of stuff not related. You could also use "exact phrase/word/s" feature.
