What is wrong with this Forum!

Amazing, you post something and the percentage must be like about 1% you ever get an answer compared to the views. For example I just saw an AC question viewed over 7 or 9,000 times and it got 20 replies. This tells me very few people really know their KIA vehicles. It also is obvious when you read there are very little amount of technical people that support this board.

It is seldom anyone leaves photo(s) of how to do something which is strange. Also, for a forum which is dedicated to specific vehicles. For example, you go to a Dodge Forum and the questions and answers are pretty much detailed with anything you need. Photos are essential in helping somebody figure out or do a maintenance job that somebody ask about. Why is this forum so different. Because there are lousy maintenance and repair books on KIA. So essentially KIA owners need more help. I realize that the dealers want you to bring in your vehicle and not tell you a thing, but nobody on this forum really technically knows KIA Vehicles. There aren't a few decent KIA mechanics on the entire forum? It is obvious by responses and as I mentioned photos for procedures, etc. that there are few technical people in this entire forum of all KIA models.

A forum that just is basically for discussion but no real help really isn't a good forum. This forum really needs a technical part of each vehicle selection in and itself that addresses these issues. It is a shame that people that post here very seldom get real help that they are asking for. I am sure many people feel disappointed when they log in over and over repeatedly and wait for an answer and get none to help them.

I think it's due to the newness of this vehicle. But i do agree with you..the views far outnumber replies.

Newness of the car...yes. Also Kias aren't easy to work with like toyotas or most of chevys and fords. Not a lot of videos on YouTube with step by step on how to fix things on kias. A lot more videos for other cars.
Try to change spark plugs in a Sorento and you'll understand what I am talking about.

Automotive forums in general have kind of fallen by the wayside over the last few years, replaced by social media like Facebook groups. The problem with that is they aren't easily searchable and don't really work well as an archive of knowledge. Not to mention that most of the discussion is about wheels and stance, rather than technical help.

It used to be that you could have a problem with your 1995 car and find the fix in a forum post from 2000. I don't really see that happening as much anymore.

IMHO more and more drivers are just that - drivers, less people do work on their cars, some don't even know how to fill gas in their own car. That's a general observation.

While ... some people who bought VW/Audi, Subaru, Honda. BMW and so, may have had performance etc mods planned and figured out before they purchased their car. Those usually understand what's what and thus do work on theirs.

I agree!! Hardly any help here.

I have a 1996 Saturn and the forum I follow is constantly busy with lots of help/replies.

With Kias' generous warranty coverage many people just go back to their dealer anyway for needed repairs, and "those in the know" can get a sense of a posters abilities and stay away for that reason. why try and explain something that will not be put to use or if done improperly cause more of a problem. As for "modding" with so much of cars today being computer controlled right down to the "audio" system, things are more difficult to do, and many don't have the self experience to do that kind of work as in the days of the past.UNLESS one is also an electronics "guru" also.

i agree with the OP, there is barely any help here for anything. Like a ghost town almost. I came from a Taurus forum and it's like night and day. You ask a question and bam, 30 replies in a day. Here, crickets.

There is a BIG difference between a FORUM and a TECHNICAL SERVICE, if an active member has found a way to do some "mod" or repair and has the time to post of it, they generally do. A Forums is about the car and their owners...NOT a TECH. SERVICE.

To the original poster..
What is sad is that the technical information on KIAs went to pay as you go....
(kiatechinfo.com) went this way in 2014... This site is not KIA owned ..

The members of this site (kia-forums.com) come and go during the day and usually do respond to other members if they have valid information to share...
Tech support sites are "manned" by people that usually charge for their answered posts... I have found that many of these so called specialists also don't have an answer...

As I gain information about a certain model/year car I try to share it with others as do most members/KIA owners...
I have "bought" information for my cars at times and then passed on this info here...

Also posts "roll off" the main pages and are not seen after a short time... They are visible in the sub forums areas and are searchable there...
If you want your original post(s) to remain visible just answer your own post with just the word "bump" and then it keeps it visible to others longer with a much better chance to get your answer(s)...

If we have an answer for a common problem you will probably get a reply...
We do try hard to help other members when we can...
