Annoying Newbie posting

I get annoyed the way that many newbies bounce on to this forum probably from a search engine link and demand immediate advice or answers to their KIA's problem. They often do get some advice and then pi$$ off never to be seen or heard of again on this forum.

In reality a online forum is really a online meeting place of people with similar interests and if you were a new person present at a meeting in the physical world and started asking for information without first introducing yourself I am sure others at the meeting would demand that you identify who you are.

I personally find it is insulting to the regular and long time users of this forum and demonstrates a lack of respect to other users by not first introducing yourself and advising what country you come from and what year and model your KIA is.
Then only after doing that first then explain your car's problem.

With that approach you will likely get more help.

I myself will not offer advice to any newbie who lacks respect for the forum by first introduce themselves and I suspect I may not be the only one.

There's a few things that many of us find annoying, such as the ones you mention, and not putting much effort into a detailed description of their problem and any associated history etc., but we should ignore those we feel don't deserve a response and where needed politely encourage new members and show them how it's done.

I am an Automotive Online Forum Member since 1999, and let me tell you that what you stated is Right, but sadly is what it used to be some years ago...

Now in these "Social Media" years, people are less social than ever.

I agree with Ron1004, the ideal solution is to Teach them how to do the things properly, including posting here; however, if you don't want to, then I kindly suggest you to not get annoyed at them, just ignore them and continue browsing...

Kind Regards.

Ive come from various honda, nissan, and toyota forums and I can tell you that while newbie posts may seem annoying this has been a pretty good place so far. Everyone here seems respectful, the moderators actually look over the forum and intervene when necessary. Not a bunch of endless trolling and arguing either. Some heated debate at times but still respectful for the most part. Annoying yes, but a good community overall helps me overlook things like that.

Rest assured, I've been fighting in your corner on this, but much to my surprise Admin say that it can only be done at the next system upgrade.

Sadly, at the moment there is not a lot we can do to control people's post quality and force them to make more meaningful posts. We also can not force new members to stick around on the forum after they asked the question that inspired them to register. We can control where new members have to post initially, which may help limit how many of these newbie quick question posts that you are seeing. It would be as simple as avoiding that newbie grounds.

I've noticed this also and even suggested to stop responding on a thread where the op has gone silent.
