2006 Kia Spectra Emergency Brake Handle Stuck

Hi guys,

I have a serious issue going on with my emergency brake. The other day I had engaged the emergency brake. When I went to put the handle down the button you push in at the top to release the emergency brake was already push in, as a result, I could not put the handle down. I have knowledge on car work but I just don't mess with that area of the car much. Any advice guys links or whatever would be a great help thank you in advance.

Sometimes you can pull too hard to engage the Ebrake... Try pulling harder yet to let the button pop up...
You may also have corroded brake cables not allowing the extra pull to release...
On a 1997 Ford Ranger I have I had to cut the cables going to the back brakes to get the Ebrakes to release... Then I had to replace both cables... They freeze up mostly because they seldomly get used on automatic transmission cars and the cables freeze in place...
