Tensioner Bolt Torque Spec

2007 Spectra5 SX

Can anyone confirm the torque spec, and where they found it, for the timing belt tensioner bolt?

I have a PDF that supposedly came from the KIA manual that says 31.1 to 39.8 ft-lb.

I have another PDF from Gates that says 31 to 40 ft-lb.

I have seen some other numbers floating around online near 20 ft-lb.

So I just set my torque wrench to 36 ft-lb, targeting the middle of the ranges I thought were true. And at the very end of tightening, I hear / feel a pop, unscrew it, and see 3 or 4 block threads comes out on the bolt.
