2015 Sedona Side Mirrors Reverse Tilt

I have an SX Sedona that comes with the tilting side view mirrors when the car is in reverse. This feature has worked for the last 2 years but now it does not. Nothing has been changed so I'm clueless as to what caused it.

I have the mirror folding switch in the auto position and I have tried both the L/R switch for the mirror adjustment, which are the positions needed for the mirrors to tilt. Everything else works except for tilt.

Any ideas as to what would cause this would be greatly appreciated.

Just a guess, but whatever switch activates the tilt may have gone bad. I'm not a tech, so I don't know where that switch would be, but it might be attached to the shifter.
Take it to a dealer and see what they say.

Might just be a setting issue. I don’t have enough posts to add a web link, but if you google “Kia Carnival Manual Outside Rearview Mirror” and click the kiacarnival manual link, it’ll tell you if the mirror selector is in the neutral position, the mirrors don’t go down:

“While the vehicle is moving rearward, the outside rearview mirror(s) will move downward to aid reverse parking. According to the position of the outside rearview mirror switch (1), the outside rearview mirror(s) will operate as follows:
L/R : When the remote control outside rearview mirror switch is selected to the L (left) or R (right) position, both outside rearview mirrors will move downward.
Neutral : When neither switch is selected, the outside rearview mirrors will not operate.
The outside rearview mirrors will automatically revert to their original positions under the following conditions :
1. The ignition switch is in the OFF position.
2. Shift lever is moved to any position except R (Reverse).
3. Remote control outside rearview mirror switch is placed in the middle.”

That's really good to know! Thanks!

Confirmed

Just had this same issue, and I can confirm the fix. Neither side was selected for the side view buttons. I pressed one of them, put it in reverse, and both mirrors tilted downward. Kind of an odd behavior, but glad it was an easy resolution.

Thanks so much for this info! I had noticed once that the mirrors tilted down automatically but then I could never get it to do it again lol
