Anyone know about the Kia Rondo?

Hello everyone,

Iíll be picking up my grandmaís 2007 Kia Rondo soon. Iím replacing my 2005 base Ford Focus, the Kia has every option available at the time including sunroof, MP3, and heated leather seats. It has 110k miles and a V6.

Itís been maintained religiously with new oil and fluids replaced, and still looks brand new because it was barely driven.

Iím 29, so it still kinda seems like an ďold personĒ car to me, but it was free and has more features than anything Iíve ever owned. Iíll be getting a second ďfunĒ car later on.

Iím just looking forward to getting out of my crappy 175k mile Focus. Itíll also be much better for the road trips my wife and I want to take later this year.

I donít think Iíve ever seen a Rondo on the road though, they seem pretty rare.

Thank you!

Garage

not sure where you are located:
US: it came to the market with the 2007 model and finished at the end of the 2010 model year
Canada: it came to the market with the 2007 model till the end of the 2012 model year, there was no 2013 model, and then they introduced it as an all new model in 2014 but only continued to the end of the 2017 model year.

It was known as the Carens in other markets.

I owned a 2008 Rondo for 4 years and traded it in on a 2012 Soul 4u. My Rondo had a 2.4L engine and was a very good vehicle and enjoyed it very much.

I just came back from a 9,000 mile road trip across the country.....I counted four Rondos.

One owner I spoke with had 260,000 miles on his 2009, all original parts ( 4 cylinder engine) and it was just now needing rear shocks.
My 2007 ( 4 cylinder) with 109,000 miles is all original.

You will notice the fuel economy difference ! The 6 cyl. Rondo will use over 13 liters per 100 km around town ; compared to the 2 liter 4 cyl. Focus 10.5 liters per 100 km. The 2014 + newer Rondo has a 2 liter 4 cyl. rated at 10.5 city.

They are rare . I didn't know this until after my purchase. The LX 6 cyl. 2.7 is the best and definitely not an old people car! I am still amazed by how much room is inside . It has the feel of a larger SUV even though it is technically a wagon or (crossover). But on the outside it looks like a small car.
I had my windows tinted right off the bat. Then added the tinted rain guards. It really changed the look. There are a few recalls for the 4 cyl model but NONE on the 6 cyl. It handles smoothly and turns on a dime.
Fuel economy, awesome!
I've had mine for 4 years now and its close to 200,000 miles but still running strong. I can't see myself parting with it. When it finally gives out I will probably have the motor rebuilt and keep on driving it.
Feels kinda nice having a rare vehicle!

Wink The Rondo

P.S. to my previous post.

The Rondo 2.7 LX will surprise you when you need to enter the freeway or pass another vehicle. Punch it and it goes!!
