Rondo 2009 V6 aftermarket front coil springs

Did anyone tried to use Monroe or KYB quick struts assembly for Optima on Rondo? They are using same struts, same mount, weight difference around 60kg (Optima lighter), ground clearance 5mm difference (Optima higher).

Me too. I'm curious to see if anyone has tried it. I have the 2008 V6 and was quoted about $1000 each from Kia.

I suspect the difference in ground clearance could be stuff bolted below the suspension.
Only 60KG difference - that's for all 4 wheels? I'm sure there's more difference on the suspension with me vs. my son in the driver's seat.

I got an answer from Monroe regarding Rondo vs Optima:
Quote:
I am showing the kia optima has a different spring and front upper coil spring insulators but everything else is the same.

Don't folks cut springs and swap with different weights to change the ride quality?
Any thoughts on adding a lift-kit type of support to make up the difference?
How about lowering the max cargo weight by 60KG?

I actually replaced front struts and coils to Monroe Quick-struts. Before replacing I checked coil springs wire diameter, Monroe springs wire is 1 mm thicker which is IMHO good. I did wheel alignment with no problem at all. 60KG difference in car weight could be ignored and if you car doesn't have third row it will be even 35kg difference.
I paid 350CAD for pair of Monroe Quick-struts plus around 60CAD for tools that I didn't have and 120CAD for alignment. It took me 2 hours to change both side with zero experience of doing it before, just watch couple of youtube videos.

Thanks for trying the Monroes. I was about to go through my 3rd coil spring replacement when I decided to look back at this forum to see if someone finally tried them. By curiousity, have you observed any difference (outside the thickness) between the 2; like lenght and during driving. I`ll buy them and give them a try as well. Trying to get another 5 year out of this car.

I just replaced mine as well with the Monroes today. I thought only one coil spring was broken but both finally were broken. Car ride is so smooth right now I measured the thickness of the springs and both the kia and Monroe were at 15 mm. I figured I could not compared their height since the old ones collapsed. Only difference I could see is with one of the brake/speed sensor attachment which is not at place but everything fits perfectly fine.

THanks Evgeny_D!

Installed the Optima KYB quick-style struts on my Rondo yesterday. The front end is at least 1" higher.
Will have to see how this works in the long term.

Removal was a challenge due to seized bolts. Ended up having to replace one of the sway bar links due to seized nuts.
Thankful for a 2nd pair of hands to help with installing the top bolts.
+1 for KYB - all of the bolt holes lined up without any issues.

I don't usually drive the car - but my son reports that it handles better now.
Next step is to get the alignment done.

In my case with Monroe all sensors and brake lines mount was exactly in right locations.

Could you share the part# for the Monroe Quick Struts assembly? Like you all, I am looking to replace the whole unit and can't locate anything that is Kia OEM. I was quoted over $1000 to do both (front). I watched a couple of videos and I'm pretty sure that I could do a swap, but I don't know what Monroe parts to buy...
Thanks in advance!

I used RockAuto to order them, they where almost two time cheaper than to buy it in local store.
