Exclamation Harmonic balancer removal - seized pin spring? (help!)

Hi all, I'm looking for some insight to a problem I haven't seen discussed anywhere on the forum. Brought a 2010 Rondo V6 in to the dealer for a timing belt change. It was estimated at 4.3 hours, but the repair is going over estimate because the pin spring aligning the harmonic balancer (crankshaft pulley) and timing sprocket is seized. This prevents the harmonic balancer from coming off. The pin spring goes into the small off-centre hole in the harmonic balancer (see image).

Anyone encountered this before? Does one typically reuse or replace the old pin spring? The labour from the dealer was originally quoted at $516 CAD: how is a customer usually billed when something like this puts a repair overtime?

For completeness, the pin spring's part number is 1431105205 (labeled 1431CA in the attached image).

Hello,

I had a harmonic balancer failure and also did a timing belt and timing belt kit. I used a punch for the pin every time. Mine was really stuck every time too. I did not replace it as the original was still very tight when I pushed in the balancer. Stupid design in my opinion.
