burned piston

I just had my car serviced today, upon servicing the mechanic at kia motor said that I have a burnt piston and now I need to replace the entire motor or it will blow. If I'm correct couldn't they just replace the piston and o ring instead? I need to know as soon as possible because I'm about to be out of 5000 and don't have the money for it.

Where do you live? As already asked, car? Engine? Year? Mileage? We can't help you with out this info? What do you bring the car in for?
Also don't know why you posted this in the interior section? If you tell us what kind of Kia you have I can move this post for you.

Back up, what's the whole story here? Why do they think it has a burned piston? What kind of service did you have done? Year, model, and engine too please.
