No horn beep when remote locking...

My horn doesn't beep when I use the remote to lock the doors on my 2006 Spec5. It did once when I first got it, but it doesn't now. Anyone have any ideas?

The car horn is not the alarm there is a secondary horn mounted on the right strut tower for the alarm... Does the alarm actually work?... (put window down, set the alarm, reach in and open the door).. or better yet push the PANIC button on the remote fob..There is a hood switch near the right (passenger) headlight that is part of the alarm system. If that switch is not closing the alarm will not "beep" (telling you that the alarm arming was not successful)..You could also have a bad alarm horn..

I don't think I have an actual alarm on my car. Just the keyless entry fab. The panic button does make the car horn go off. I guess I could look closer at that plunger thing you mentioned. See if anything looks off. Thanks!

You have to hit the button twice for the alarm. The first time locks the doors and the second time arms the remote which is the beep you hear. This is how mine works.

I push the button about 5 times. I can hear the doors locking, but no beeping sound.

You do have an alarm system in your car and the "panic" button is part of the system..
The horn will not beep "if" the hood switch is not being activated (hood closed)..
We know that the alarm "horn" works (Panic)
I know "if" that switch is out of alignment the car will lock but the horn (and alarm) will not be activated.
That will tell you if the horn itself is good or bad..

I checked it out today. It is the little switch on the left side. I pushed it down, then locked the car and it beeped. It makes sense because the original hood was dented badly, so I had gotten a new hood and it is missing the part that pushes that switch down. So, I'll rig something to press down on the switch when the hood is closed. Thanks guys!

Solution that worked for my wifes van-
The van has a hood pin thats located on the passenger side next to the front headlight. There is suppose to be a rubber gromet that presses down on the hood pin when the hood closes. Her van was missing the gromet that was attached to the hood. It was a simple fix. You can text the theory by closing all doors and having the hood open! Simply press the hood pin down with your finger and press the lock button on the key fob remote. The lights should flash, if you press the lock twice it should honk. I went to an auto parts store and picked up a vaccum hose cap. With some rubber cement glue, I glued the cap to the top of the hood pin, so that when the hood closes the cap will press the hood pin down! Saved us 700.00 dollars from the stealership!!

Ok this MAY be a simple safety feature that is befuddling you. I know that if the car things that the trunk or the doors are ajar the honk feature will not work as a way to warn you that something is ajar. Generally this would be quite obvious as you'd see something on the dash.... Could be some BCM issue acting like there's a door ajar. That being said you don't have an aftermarket car starter right, because that can start doing weird chit with the BCM...
