Accelerator lag on a 2018 Kia Sportage LX

Hi guys.

I'm a new Kia owner.

Thing I notice recently while driving the vehicle, is that the acceleration is not linear -- it's like I can leave my foot slightly depressed on the accelerator, but the car will go but it will also keep accelerating anyway, unlike the vast majority of other vehicles that will reach a set speed immediately.

The other thing I notice is that after depressing the accelerator it takes about a half second or so for vehicle to start accelerating. There is a lag. This is an odd characteristic of my Sportage. Although I like this vehicle very, it's not something I'm willing to get used to.

Does anyone know about this? Is this common with Kia Sportages with the 2.4L engine?

Thanks.

So I happen to own a bi-directional scanner that is good up to most 2018 vehicles. I got into the special functions menu of the Kia ECU and erased the adaptive memory settings.

Things seem 80%? 90% better?

I also just got a center console tray in the mail. Things are looking good.

I blacked out the alloy wheels and I think I'm going to buy the silver skid plate. Or I may just remove the black one that's already there and paint it? Not sure. The silver one is about $70 and it's still plastic.

I get the feeling from reading on the Kia and Hyundai forums that some people have issues with their drive that others simply do not have. You may have seen a potential issue where the car "learns" improperly and needs to be reset to be more like the ones that are driving well.

In a few days (at most) your Sportage will have relearned shift and throttle profiles based on your inputs.

Even the turbo has snappy throttle response and the 2.4 I had before the SX never had any hesitation. Sounds like you are on the right track but it also could be a bad Throttle Position Sensor (TPS), a sticking throttle plate or even a poorly made harness connection. Whatever, it is not typical. One of the main reasons I bought my first Sportage was the throttle response, power and snappy shifting, and the second one was even better.

I have 17SX. Mine had the lag in ECO mode. I leave it in normal and it doesn't do it.
