Thinley - Does your Sportage have a DRIVE MODE button on the center console just aft of the gearshift lever? If so, then you or someone has pressed it and put the vehicle into the ECO drive mode. If you press the button again the ECO light will extinguish and the SPORT light will illuminate. One more press and both lights will be out, meaning you are in the NORMAL drive mode. NORMAL and ECO modes are remembered with power cycles, but the SPORT mode changes back to NORMAL with a power cycle. Look up ECO mode in the index of your Owner's Manual.

Thank you for the reply. My car doesn’t have a DRIVE MODE button. I referred the manual and the only way to put off the ECO indicator is through drive mode. So it is bit strange that Eco mode illuminated without any reason.
