Mine was done on my EX with the same engine as your LX. Nothing has changed from a driving perspective. I've taken the car on long trips and it's been fine. My guess is that this problem only affects a small number of engines probably due to manufacturing tolerances. But I don't understand the reluctance to do this. If you have the problem, isn't limp mode preferable to being stuck on the road? The probability that you will have this problem is low. Kia is just trying to prevent any catastrophes if you do have one of the few cars with this issue probably to limit legal liability.

I don't think it's nearly that bad, But hopefully at some point we reach full disclosure and their recovery plan to make things right.

I'm fearful that it will do more harm than good. I'm fearful of false alarms that would force me to hobble to a dealer for a reset, due to an incorrect reading.

I guess I'll talk to the Service Manager on the day of service to see what he says.

Wouldn't that be better and safer than getting stranded on the open road in the middle of nowhere?

Including me, it looks like the majority here on the forum that have had the update are very satisfied. I had mine done a long time ago and am very happy with the extra warranty provided. The warranty was a huge factor in me buying my SX and after 31 months I still love it.
