Give me a break!
Which head unit do you have? And how are you attempting to make a call using the steering wheel controls?

Not sure what OP's issue is.... I use the phone in the car all the time without issue.... guess I'm not understanding the problem.

I guess I'm a little dense. I have my phone hooked via BT and and use the phone buttons on the ST to "Call `Contact Name`" and have had no issues. I can also hook the phone via USB and use Android Auto with the ST buttons with very similar results. I have not tried using BT and calling out a phone number, so I will have to give that a try.

Thats what people are bitch'n about. You can use contacts, just not direct dialing the number unless you are stopped.

Thumbs down

My point-----you CANNOT make a call unless in park using the "call" button on the steering wheel. What the hec is the sense in having the damn button---it's worthless.

As i said----my wife's 2013 Hyundai allows calls using steering wheel controls at all times. Kia is really a Jr. Hyundai!

When the hec did Kia decide to do this----it certainly isn't government mandated!!

Maybe you're pushing the WRONG BUTTON. You CAN make a call using the command button
and saying call "someone in your contact list". As I previously stated, almost daily on the highway
I press the button and say "Call Q" and it dials my home.

Not sure why yours doesn't work, do you not have the voice command system? If not, how would you want the buttons to work, scroll though the phone list for a number then dial it with the answer button or something?

Not sure what the issue is with your vehicle, but I also have an SX and am able to make hands free calls from the steering wheel.

The green phone button is not the button to use to make a hands free call. You may want to read your manual to see how to operate the hands free function and what the buttons do.
