Is an Optima a good brand to buy?

Hi I am thinking about buying a car in 2 months and I was wondering if an kia optima would last me long at in up to 5 yrs. I am not sure if I am going to buy a kia but if I do it will be the optima 2014 model. I mean for the price because they offer smart keyless starter, panorama sun roof(even toyota camry and honda civics don't have), air conditioning at the back, indicator lights at the mirror, power folding mirrors, heated/cooling seats. I mean why is optima so cheap compare to the other car manufacturer?

Cheap is a relative term. What is your def of cheap? Traction control, stability control, full front/side curtain airbags, voice, bt, steering wheel controls and the list goes on and on. All these are standard on their base model. 21k isn't cheap IMHO but that 21k is a great value when you add up the list of included options.

Add in the keyless entry and such and the price jumps up quite a bit but I believe it's STILL a great value and better than the competition IMHO.

Yes I compare it cheap to the toyota camry and honda accord because those car don't have the same packages.

Every new car by now has keyless entry so that doesn't matter. Starting since I think 00 some car had keyless entry to so it's not a new thing.

Even its basic model is cheaper:
2014 Kia Optima - Build & Price - Customize with Colors and Options
Toyota Camry 2014.5 Mid-Size Sedan | Hybrid & Mid-Size Cars
Build and Price a Honda - Official Honda Web Site

And even than the next package model of Kia,Toyota, and Honda. Kia is still cheaper with more packages it gives as standard.

The Optima is a model, not a brand. Sorry, semantics is one of my things. :D

However, everyone that I personally know who owns one loves it. I occasionally drive one to do small part local deliveries, and I can't complain. The one I drive is the GDI, so I guess I'm lucky there.

I've also had a customer in the last 24 hours tell me that she loves hers, and can't wait to open her sunroof when it finally gets warm enough for her. YMMV of course, but I personally think it is a good car.

My family has 2 KIA Spectras (06 and 07) and 2 Hyundais (04 Sonata and 08 Accent).
In all my years of driving I have NEVER had better cars... With the exception of the 04 no rust anywhere and no engine or tranny problems on any of them...
Their drive trains are second/third/and forth generation designs that have been proven over the years.

KIA got lucky when Japan got hit with the last typhoon and had the reactor shut downs.
People "found" KIA and Hyundai...Now the word is out and people really love them...
Add to the "mix" a Mr. Peter Schreyer for superb designs and you have a real winner...

Optimas are good cars. I do drive a 2008 Optima, but be alert if you end up with a check engine light on because most likely some issues are known for the vapor charcoal canister. Also make sure you check the car for recalls if you do get one. They have had recalls for the clockspring in the steering wheel that usually has to do with the airbag light coming on during driving. It happened to me but because the recall on my car was never serviced, they fixed it free of charge

I've owned my 2012 Optima EX since November of 2011 and I absolutely love it! I owned 3 new Hondas (Civic, Element and Accord) before it and got tired of paying alot and getting pretty much nothing extra. With my Optima I have the Premium and Technology packages, leather seats, etc and I'm paying the same amount as I did for my Accord LX-P.

Kia has come a LONG way in the past few years and I wish more people would give them a chance. My first new car was a 2002 Kia Sportage Convertible and it was pretty crappy.
