the G4 is going to be built at the new Mexican plant to supply US and Canada (the same plant where they are currently building the 2017 Forte)

this will definitely be a 2018 model, confirmed this with my local dealer as he already has 2017's in stock. I suspect that as this new version will be an early 2017 release possibly in the spring if they start building it in the Mexican plant in January as what was projected some time back, I can see that happening, a bit like the early release of the 2017 Sportage.

KIA just officially announced the 2017 Rio today:

The Kia Rio 5-Door/sedan carries over into the 2017 model year with minor product enhancements. Now offering red and black exterior color choices for the LX trim, Kia’s smallest and most economical model continues to deliver a potent combination of world-class styling, outstanding fuel economy, advanced technologies and tremendous value.

in other words no changes, so that opens the way for the G4 2018 model, still think it will be a short year for the 2017 model.

Is it me or they enlarged the nose but they removed this amount of space from the interior???

It's not as impressive as the 3rd gen to me. They don't know what to do anymore to innovate...

4th gen Rio has lost it's unique look compared to 3rd gen Rio but still have to say I'm waiting for this one to come to markets. Looks quite well equipped not to mention a 1.0 liter turbocharged (100PS or 120PS) gasoline engine.

Few thoughts:
- Rear bumper looks similar compared to pre-facelift 3rd gen Rio, which is good. In facelift model Kia reshaped the black part of the bumper which looks quite ugly, I think
- E-brake seems to be mechanical (hopefully in all trim levels). I wan't to decide, whether or not to use the e-brake (I live in a flat region so usually I don't use it, just leave the car in gear)
- 3rd gen Rio LED tail lights look good but these ones look even better
- ISG disabling button has been moved to center console which is good. In a 3rd gen Rio it leaves behind the steering wheel blind spot (usually I don't use ISG since I don't like car stalling in every intersection for a few seconds)
- In Europe, 1.1 liter diesel is apparently dropped out (1.4 liter diesel will be available with two PS option) but old 1.25 liter and 1.4 liter naturally aspirated gasoline engines are still available. I wonder who might want to buy this car with yesterdays engine technology, when T-GDI is available? Old 1.25 liter Hyundai Kappa II engine is durable but it's awfully underpowered if there is even one person on board in addition to driver. Have 2013 Rio with that engine and that's the main reason why I'm eagerly waiting for the 4th gen with a turbocharged (120hp) engine. Might have to make a trade next year.
