Just do it! (y) My orig. Sorento muffler imploded on the highway at about 30k miles, I wasn't sure, no outward signs? And the car still ran okay? But with every cold start it used to backfire in the y-pipe, or tailpipe, because of the rich start condition. When hot you couldn't really tell, but it seemed like I definitely lost power I bought a Flow Delta 50, and had a shop take the system apart, a still clean cat, & piping! I had them put the Flowmaster on, and the cars been mellow, & perfect ever since! I gained about 25hp too! (y) I'm at 60k miles now. Somewhere I wrote about it at the time on the forum?

I did exactly that, actually. Took my SX to a muffler place, they removed the stock muffler and resonator, put a FM 40 on (fits where the resonator was), then they ran a Y pipe out and used the stock tips. I even had them push the tips out just a little bit, looks more aggressive.

2012 Sportage SX AWD-Ceramic tint all around, debadged, K&N filter, custom catback exhaust, Torcon BOV, GT Yellow fog covers, interior LEDs, 55w HIDs, Falken Pro G4 A/S rubber, Brakestech cross drilled rotors/Akebono ProAct pads, H&R springs, KYB struts.

Oh, one more thing that's important! When I put the Delta Flow 50 on my Sorento replacing the stock muffler, It Wouldn't IDLE at All! Those Damn computers! Low, or no backpressure at idle! I had a resonator eliminator pipe 2" by about 2 ft long, laying around in the garage, and it was a perfect snug fit inside the resonator! I slid that in, and thru the resonator to increase the backpressure a little, and it's been fine ever since! You might have to do this. rather then mess with the fuel mixture or computer, to get it right!
