One Click Gas Cap Malfunctions

The Kia OEM one click gas cap is triggering the malfunction indicator lamp light.
This is the second OEM gas cap I have purchased in six months because of the malfunctioning warning light.

The gas cap works for a few months but then triggers the warning light.
I take care to make sure the gas cap is inserted correctly with the one click system.

Does anyone else have this problem?
I like the design of this particular gas cap because of the small strap that holds it in place while filling up with gas.

Closely inspect the female fill tube that the cap attaches to.
Look for any build up of dust or debris where the cap seals.
Also feel with your fingers if any raised material or metal may be impinging on the seal, preventing it from doing its job.
Wipe down the seal area with a rag lightly sprayed with WD40.
Wipe down the seal area on the cap with the same rag.
See if this helps.......
