I’ve got a 2017 Kia Sorento EX and I just installed aftermarket running boards......I understand that the mud flaps need to be altered to put back on......can anyone give me any advice on where to cut or how to measure where I need to cut. Also like in the pic below someone posted that there’s a screw missing to make the running board flush with the body, but I don’t have a whole there to put a screw in.......any advice or help is appreciated.
I installed those running boards and what I had to use for the front flaps was some flaps I bought off of Amazon (I tried to make the KIA front flaps work by cutting them out but it was a waste of flaps and time). Anyhow, here is what I used, RoadSport 4754 'B' Series Premier Splashguards. They turned out looking like factory OEM and will conform to the arc of the wheel well and front flat end of the running boards perfectly. I will take some pictures if you want.
Here are the pictures. If you look close you will notice that I cut off about 1" of the inboard side of the flap, otherwise it would have been to wide for the best fit. There are other things also that you need to do for a better fit of not only the flaps but the running boards themselves (specifically the front tip portion of the running board to make it pull up flush to the bottom of the vehicle). Any questions let me know.
Hi, refer to the pics attached. As my car came with original mud flaps I had to remove the front mud flaps when I got the running board / side step installed. Subsequently I had my ori mud flaps cut (by using a blade) and got it installed back
Did you have to cut all the way through the mud flaps to get them to work? Could you possibly take a close up pic of the front and back of the mud flap so I can get a better idea of what I need to do. Thanks
