how long for your Sorento to blow cold AC?

My Sorento seems to have trouble blowing ice cold air. It's been about 85 degrees here. When I start the car and drive off, I have the automatic climate control set to LOW. The AC button is lit ON. Even so, it takes maybe 5-10 minutes before the AC starts blowing cold air--while waiting for it to run cold, the air just feels more like bland neutral temp air (not cold, not warm...maybe very slightly cool, at best).

Weirdly, today, it was doing the neutral temp air until I pressed the "Rear AC" button out of desperation to see if that would help. Within about 10 seconds, the air coming out the vents was much colder. I then turned off the Rear AC button, and the air stayed at its much colder temp. Now, maybe that was just a coincidence, but I don't know.

I replaced the cabin air filter a couple weeks ago. Also, the car was just serviced not too long ago to, among other things, check out a weird sound coming occasionally from the vents...the sound seems to have something to do with the AC compressor, sort of a strangled whistling sound as if the compressor is in operation. The Kia dealership tested the AC and said everything's absolutely fine, no leaks.

Last summer, there was an AC hose leak. They fixed the leak and totally filled up the Freon. But they seem to feel that's not an issue now.

I'm at a loss...is this maybe just normal behaviour for it to take so long to run actual cold air? 10 minutes seems a little excessive.

My 2016 took a couple of minutes. My 2019 EX is almost instant
Disclaimer - the temp has barely gotten to 80 so far since I have the car.
But on a hot day, I put the windows down and start driving, by the time I get down the block, .1 mile, windows up, AC cold.

Sounds to me like you need the system to be charged.

At current Toronto temp, my 16' AC starts cooling down nearly instantly. In hot days it takes about 2 minutes.

Our temps are in triple digits right now, 107 just today. When we pull out of the garage, it is cold almost instantly. If we've been parked in the sun, it has to exhaust all the hot air in the vents first which takes maybe 2-3 minutes and then starts blowing cold. It's one of the more efficient A/C units that I've encountered in the last twenty years so I would be very suspicious of it taking 10 minutes to get cold.

I've noticed that on my 2014 SXL is that when my car has sat in the sun for awhile and I go for maximum cooling when I start it helps to turn the AC intake to "outside air" rather than recirculate. The system automatically wants to use recirculate. I figure that I'm trying to cool all of that hot inside air in the interior AC ducting. Bringing in outside air first really seems to get the cooling process started faster. I only have the outside air coming in for a few minutes and then switch to recirculate for maximum effectiveness.
