2017 LX, upgrade manual seat to powered seat?

I have a 2017 LX V6 AWD with manual driver seat. Does anyone know if I could swap the seat with a powered seat from a higher trim Sorento? Like if I purchased the replacement seat new or more likely found a suitable replacement at a junkyard? Is the factory wiring hiding somewhere for the powered seat even though I only have manual seats, or is the wiring something a mechanic would install without too much labor?

You're going to run into all kinds of issues. The BCU expects the full compliment of components to be available, including the switches in the driver's door that allow you to set two seat positions. There's a lot more involved than just the swapping of a non-motorized seat with one with switches and motors.

Only the SX and SXL have the memory seat switch in the door. The EX has power seats and no memory switch. I looked into adding the memory seat module and switch and it required a different wiring harness in the door. I would think as long as you can get power at the seat base, you should be able to install a powered seat.

some EX have memory buttons. my 2016 EX has them. could be a year thing. or a regional thing. there are some things in the US version EX that my canadian version EX doesn't have and vice versa. I don't remember 100% what they are off the top of my head but i remember that there are some differences.

Must be a US/Canada thing. In the US only the SX has memory seats. Trust me ... they were the main reason we ended up with an SX vs an EX. :D

If the OP is looking to add heated seats, I would think that would be more complicated. My guess is that the wiring harness for the switches is not included in the non-heated seat models.

Try checking a salvage yard for the complete seat. If the color doesn't match you can remove the power frame and add it to your seat. You may also be able to get the harness you need to add heated seats or memory.

I have the same question with a 2014 Kia Sorento. I purchased salvaged power seats from a SX to replace my manual seats. All of the wiring harness plugs matchup but there is no power to the seats. I checked all the fuses and they seem to be fine so I'm wondering if it just is not possible even though the wiring matches up. Any help would be appreciated!

You say you have checked all the fuses -- but I would have thought you'd be MISSING the fuse for the seat power since it wasn't an OEM install.
The 30A for "DRV P/SEAT" is actually present? If not, that would certainly explain it.
