2016 Sorento - cruise control and radio issues

Hi all.

My mother has a '16 Sorento LX with 38k miles that I occasionally drive and she rarely. I have noticed a few times in the past that the cruise control is not responsive to the "rocker" button on the steering wheel where you set and cancel the cruise. Again this morning I could not get the cruise "decrease speed" pressing downward on the button and had to use the brake to shut it down. When I tried to set the cruise on again, it would not work and I could not use the cruise. It was like the button was "dead". I tried multiple times, but going on this evening, it will probably work. Then I took the car on lunch, it had driving for about 10 minutes and all of a sudden the radio shut completely off without notice. I had a CD going. When it came back on, it was showing a bar across the bottom as if it was loading data. This has happened before when using satellite radio, but it has been a few months, I thought nothing of it at the time, but apparently is an issue. Not sure if these are connected or not, but looks like another trip to the dealer is in order. Anyone else experience this?

Thanks.

The gizmo that couples steering wheel controls to the car is called a 'clock spring' which allows steering wheel to turn while maintaining electrical connectivity. It has a connector (where most electrical gremlins seem to reside).

I'd say correct as to dealer visit needed.

Thanks.

Do you think that could be the issue with the radio as well? There is nothing on the steering wheel that turns the radio off, so thinking it is a different issue. It has 38k miles, so the radio is probably out of warranty. I think it went out at 36k miles, imagine that. I have heard that the reset button can work wonders. I may try that.

Update

UPDATE:

No other issues with the radio, I am going to do a "reset" next time it misbehaves.

As far as the cruise-control, it has worked fine for the most part, but those buttons have stopped working again a few times. A trip to the dealer, they think that the switch pod on the steering wheel needs to be replaced. They ordered the part and I take it back on the 6th of May to get replaced. We will see if that takes care of it.

If you are the original owner, the warranty is 60 months/50,000 miles.
