I know there are a few difference between the models with warranty and options included in each package, but I'm wondering if accessories/add-ons are interchangeable?
For example, Roof Rails have been backordered for the last 5 months up here, but seem to be available in the US. Could I buy a set of US rails and install them without issue on my 2016 Sorento?
Also, I'm thinking of getting side steps or a nerf bar, and there seems to be lots of after market options for US 2016 Sorentos, but sellers don't seem to know if they would fit a Cdn model...
Does anyone know one way or the other? Has anyone experienced purchasing US parts for a Cdn model (or vice-versa)?
Diffirences are trim-level-related not part related. In fact part numbers are equal. If in doubt, you can check this site out http://7zap.com/en/ to compare them.
This is Kia part # for the cross bars. 2016 Sorento without sunroof. C6021-ADU01. If it's the same part # in Canada then it will work for you. Much cheaper I'm sure as well. $290.00 list price, I'll sell to you for $245.00. plus shipping.
I have the panoramic sunroof, what do you have for the pano version?
My dealer up here tells me this is the part number for the rails that fit my vehicle (2016 Sorento EX+ 7-seater): 99997 26UM01
Also, the dealer up here claims for 2016 it is the same rails system, as they just use the higher version on both models... I seem to be seeing mixed opinions on that front...
So just a follow up. I ended up finding a roof rack locally in Canada, and though the Canadian part number is different (99997 26UM01), inside the box and the manual both show the US Part number (C6121 ADU00).
Hello all,

Thanks!
@rutabega - did you get side steps? if yes appreciate your insight. Also if you know what is the difference between nerf and side step. Or just a proprietary term that became common use (a la xerox). thanks in advance
My impression was US Customs is harder to get past than Canadian Customs. Or it may be American President campaign slogan on borders has some weight? (no flames please, i'm speculating).
It might also be sales tax differentials - Sales tax in Ontario is <begin edit> 13% <end edit> (Federal + Provincial), I can remember New York being "high" at 8% (??).

the issue one poster mentions with dirt collecting on the steps from snow, mud etc was the reason i had not included this in my original purchase. But i figure i can live with it. IMO the step will make it easier for kids to get in and out as i cant use the passenger side door to create space with the sliding seat.
Note I believe one poster is offering to give his steps away in a swap so there maybe opportunity there for someone considering these (2015 though so not sure if they fit 2016s)
I agree with you @CrazyBiker the spotted design is better looking but i decided i wasnt paying money to send them back in the hope of getting the spotted design. that is the design i have seen on Mercedes SUVs in the area
To all side step owners, looking for a little feedback on the steps. They look sharp and was contemplating getting them, but do they kinda get in the way when getting in and out. Also for those in the snow belts,do they just collect snow and sh#t.CuriousThanks
